Spreading Love: Foundation Donates Gifts to Ilorin Orphanage on Valentine’s Day
To mark this year’s Valentine’s Day, Estelle Education Foundation visited the City of Refuge F&G Orphanage Home in Ilorin, Kwara State, sharing love and kindness with the children through donations and engaging activities.
The Founder and Executive Director of the foundation, Miss Ayomitide Ebo, said the initiative was part of their commitment to supporting the less privileged, ensuring they feel valued and included in society.
“Our foundation is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and illiteracy by providing access to education and personal development opportunities.
“We regularly conduct outreaches, including paying school fees and assisting persons with disabilities. This time, we chose to spread love to the children in the orphanage,” Ebo said.
She emphasized the importance of making orphans feel special, noting that Valentine’s Day should not be a reminder of what they lack but an opportunity to show them they are loved.
Team Lead of the foundation, Sharon David-Adeoye, encouraged the children to believe in themselves, stating that their background should not define their future.
“You are the only ones who can limit yourselves. Your current situation is not the end; you must stay focused and determined to succeed,” she advised.
The Director of the orphanage, Precious Ajayi, called on the government, private individuals, and organizations to support orphanage homes, stressing that they provide shelter and care for abandoned children.
“We started with seven children seven years ago, and today we have over 50. Initially, we focused on paying school fees for the less privileged, but we realized we needed to do more to make a real impact,” Ajayi explained.
She highlighted the challenges of running the orphanage, stating that while donations have helped, sustaining the children’s needs remains demanding.
“No amount of support is too small because we cater to all aspects of their well-being,” she added.
During the visit, the foundation donated items including cake, stationery, noodles, biscuits, and drinks. The children also participated in games and interactive sessions to brighten their day.
