First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Distributes 10,000 Kits to North Central Midwives, Promises 60,000 Nationwide
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced that her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) will distribute 60,000 professional kits to midwives across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
The initiative aims to complement the Federal Government’s ongoing retraining programme for 120,000 frontline health workers.
Speaking in Ilorin, Kwara State, at the presentation of 10,000 professional kits to midwives in the North Central zone, Senator Tinubu emphasized the significance of the donation.
“That is why RHI procured 60,000 kits as an incentive to encourage and support the tireless dedication of our midwives. All six geopolitical zones will be receiving 10,000 Crocs and 10,000 scrubs to be shared among the states in each zone,” she stated.
The North Central zone, which comprises Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is the first to benefit from the distribution.
According to Senator Tinubu, 54,346 health workers have already completed their training under the Federal Government’s pprograme.
She further revealed that the donation was made possible through the support of an anonymous donor partner committed to improving healthcare, particularly in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in Nigeria.
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, commended the First Lady’s initiative, stating:
“This will have a lasting impact on the safety and confidence of our health professionals. These dedicated men and women deserve our full support.
The provision of these kits will not only equip our health workers but also send a strong message of solidarity to those devoted to protecting the health of mothers and children.”
Also speaking, the North Central Zonal Coordinator of RHI and wife of Kwara State Governor, Olufolake AbdulRazaq, described the initiative as a testament to Senator Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare and professionalism of midwives across Nigeria.
“This generous support of providing 10,000 professional kits will undoubtedly empower midwives in the North Central zone with the motivation to deliver quality and compassionate care to mothers and newborns,” she said.
She assured that the distribution will be properly managed in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) to ensure the items reach the intended beneficiaries.
The First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring the remaining zones receive their allocations as soon as possible.
