UNILORIN Unveils 50th Anniversary Logo
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole says the University is committed to community development and outreach initiatives deepened in connection with society, as he unveils 50th Anniversary logo.
Speaking at the unveiling of the golden jubilee logo at its permanent site in Ilorin, the Vice-Chancellor said that the institution is committed to giving back while students and faculty are actively involved in programme that positively impact their communities.
According to him, as part of Community Development Experience (COBES), various Departments and Faculties engaged various communities including towns and villages within the state.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that about 10,789 students have benefitted from the Federal Government’s students loan in the institution, saying the number may increase in the next academic session.
Prof Egbewole reiterated the commitment of the institution to implementing strategic plans aimed at elevating the institution to world-class status as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the university set up committee to plan the golden jubilee celebrations this year.
He emphasized that the 2024–2028 strategic plan focuses on advancing research, improving infrastructure, and strengthening community engagement.
“Our strategic plan is a work in progress, and it will place the university on the right pedestal.
“We are committed to pushing the boundaries of research, improving infrastructure, and fostering meaningful community engagement. An innovation hub and other projects are already in place to drive student initiatives,” he said.
Professor Egbewole commended the university’s progress over the past year, highlighting efforts to address challenges and ensure the institution produces graduates equipped to become job creators rather than job seekers.
He also urged alumni members to actively support the university’s development goals.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the 50th Anniversary Ceremonial Committee, Professor Olugbenga Mokuolu, explained the significance of the anniversary logo, describing it as a symbol of the university’s aspirations and vision as it marks its golden jubilee.
The event sets the tone for the year-long celebration of the institution’s milestones and future-focused initiatives.
He said the University is celebrating 50years of excellence and also gratefully looking forward to be more inspiring by giving sense of belonging to past and present students of the institution with a week long programme of activities.
