Fire Outbreak Destroys Twin 3-Bedroom Flat in Tanke, Ilorin
A devastating fire on Friday night razed a twin 3-bedroom flat located on Al-Jazeera Street, near the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Tanke, Ilorin.
The fire, reported at about 11:33 PM, prompted an emergency response from the Kwara State Fire Service.
However, much of the property had already been consumed before their arrival due to a delayed alert, according to Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the Head of Media and Publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service.
“Despite the late call, our firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties,” Adekunle said.
The firefighting operation, which lasted several hours, required the team to replenish water supplies multiple times. Unfortunately, the fire completely destroyed the flat and three rooms in the boys’ quarters.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was caused by a power surge. The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, sympathized with the affected residents and urged the public to prioritize fire safety.
“We appeal to residents to act swiftly in reporting fire emergencies and to observe all electrical precautionary measures to prevent such incidents. Quick alerts help minimize damage and save lives,” he said.
Residents are encouraged to contact the Kwara State Fire Service during emergencies via 08030419316, 112, or 08025896740.
