Amana Football Championship: Legacy FC Triumphs as NILDS DG Applauds Kwara’s Sports Development

 

Legacy Football Club of Ilorin emerged victorious in the Amana Football Championship, defeating Eagles Star Football Club of Ilorin 3-1 in a captivating final held in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The two-month tournament, organized by Amana Ajikobi Ward Youths in Sports, featured 16 teams vying for the prestigious trophy.

The Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, graced the occasion as the special guest of honour.

In a statement signed by Mohammad Abdulkadri, Media Adviser to the NILDS DG, Professor Sulaiman praised the Kwara State Government under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for its strides in sports development.

He noted the state’s achievements in improving sports infrastructure, particularly within the stadium complex.

“Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to sports development, and it is our duty to build on these achievements to engage and empower our youth,” Sulaiman stated.

The NILDS DG also announced plans to institutionalize the Amana Football Championship as an annual event, aimed at promoting grassroots sports and fostering unity among the youth.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bola Magaji, commended Professor Sulaiman for his dedication to grassroots football and community development.

Representing the governor, Magaji reaffirmed the administration’s support for initiatives that enhance youth engagement through sports.

The tournament’s success underscored Kwara State’s growing reputation as a hub for sports and youth development, with Legacy FC’s victory marking a memorable highlight in local football history.
