Al-Hikmah University To Graduate 2,211 Students, With 45 First Class For 14th Convocation – VC

Al-Hikmah University is graduating 2,211 students in the 14th Convocation and 20th Anniversary slated for January 7, 2025 with 47 bagging first class.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Noah Yusuf made this disclosure during his press briefing on the 14th Convocation and 20th Anniversary of the establishment of the institution on Monday in Ilorin.
Prof. Yusuf said that the University will be graduating a total of number of 2,211 students with 1,748 as Undergraduates and 47 bagging First Class.
He added that 736 of the graduating students bagged Second Class (Honours) Upper Division, 886 students bagged Second Class (Honours) Lower Division; while 76 bagged Third Class (Honours).
The Vice-Chancellor said that a total number of 42 Postgraduates (Ph.D) students will also be awarded degrees at the ceremony with 283 bagging Postgraduates (Master) and 59 bagging various Diploma of the University.
Prof. Yusuf said that Al-Hikmah University, which was established in 2005 as the First Islamic faith-based University in Nigeria, collected its licence from the National Universities Commission (NUC) on 7th January, 2005.
He said the University commenced academic activities in the 2005/2006 academic session with 70 students across three Faculties – Humanities and Social Sciences, Management Sciences and Natural and Applied Sciences.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the University has grown to the current undergraduate student population of 7,500 and 2,000 postgraduate students. The Part-time student population is 2,300. This brings the total population of students to 11,800 spread across eight Faculties- Agriculture, College of Health Sciences, Computing and Engineering, Education, Health Sciences, Management Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences and Law.
He said that Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, GCON, Honourable Speaker, Federal House of Representatives is expected to deliver the Convocation lecture on Monday, 30th December, 2024 with the topic: Beyond Oil: Exploring Alternative Revenue Potentials for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development in Nigeria at the Faculty of Law Moot Court, Atere, Campus, Ilorin.
He said there will be commissioning of some projects, which include the Faculty of Management Sciences Building at Atere Campus, Ilorin and Faculty of Management Sciences Building.
Prof Yusuf said the anniversary lecture will be delivered by His Excellency, Governor Babangana Umara Zulum, Executive Governor of Borno State State, with the topic: “Two Decades of Academic Excellence: Reflections on the Role of Faith-based Universities in Combating Moral and Spiritual Decadence in Nigeria. ” on Tuesday January 7, 2024.
