Israel-Hezbollah Ceasefire Officially Begins

After 13 months of conflict, a U.S.-mediated ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah commenced at 4:00 am local time on November 27, 2024.

The agreement includes a 60-day transition during which the IDF will withdraw from southern Lebanon, and Hezbollah will dismantle its military infrastructure in the region.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have instructed the IDF not to allow the entry of civilians into the areas of villages near the border in southern Lebanon, as part of the first phase of implementing the ceasefire agreement.

The IDF has detained four Hezbollah operatives, including a local commander, who entered the restricted area, and will continue to take strict action against any violations.

Last night, right before the ceasefire, the IDF conducted precision strikes in Beirut, Lebanon. The operation targeted and eliminated the heads of operations in Hezbollah’s air unit, and a key figure responsible for orchestrating drone and cruise missile attacks against Israel.

The strike came just hours before the implementation of a ceasefire agreement, marking a decisive final act in the conflict.

The IDF reports that 90% of tanks and APCs damaged by anti-tank missiles or explosives in Gaza and Lebanon have been repaired and returned to service. Vehicles with heavy damage take around 20 days to repair, while 90% of minor issues are fixed on-site or at forward operating bases.

Thanks to 24/7 efforts by the Technology and Maintenance Corps, armored vehicle readiness across the military is at 88%. These repairs allow critical equipment to remain operational during intense fighting, showcasing the IDF’s logistical capabilities and resilience in battle.

Meanwhile, an airstrike in southern Gaza has eliminated a Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative, identified as Basel Kamel Salim Nabahin, who was involved in the October 7 attacks, according to the IDF.

Separately, another strike in northern Gaza targeted and killed the commander of Hamas’s East Jabalia Battalion rocket unit, along with a terrorist tied to the same attacks. (JBN)
