Bauchi govt. refutes dissolution of scholarship board
By Idris Ayinde
The Bauchi State Government, on Thursday, refuted the purported dissolution of the state’s Scholarship Board.
The Special Adviser to the state governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Mukhtar Gidado stated this in a statement.
Gidado was reacting to a purported viral correspondence claiming that Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state had dissolved the Scholarship Board due to his inability to fund the establishment.
“We hereby state that this information is completely false and does not reflect the position of the Bauchi State Government.
“At no point did the government issue any directive to dissolve the Scholarship Board or halt the provision of scholarships to deserving students.
The administration remains committed to its priority of supporting education and the welfare of students across the state,” he said.
According to him, amidst the economic challenges faced by the country, the Bauchi State Government has consistently prioritised education, saying its significance to the future of the state cannot be overemphasised.
He assured that the state scholarship board remained active and that the government would ensure that scholarships are paid on time.
The Media Aide to the governor called on the general public to disregard the purported letter, adding that any official communication from the state government would be released through recognised channels and verified authorities.
