39th Convocation: UNILORIN To Graduate 12, 042 Students With 256 First Class, 323 PhDs
The University of Ilorin is graduating a total of 12,042 with 256 First Class and 323 PhDs in the 2022/2023 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN made this known while addressing the press at the 39th Convocation ceremonies of the institution in Ilorin.
He said that among the 12,042 graduating are 3,842 Second Class Upper Division, 6, 178 Second Class Lower Division, 1,299 Third Class, 62 Pass, 124 MB;BS, 64 Nurses, 35, Optometrists, 30 Ventinary Medicine, others from Pharmacy and Physiotherapy.
The Vice Chancellor said that a total numbers of Higher Degrees to be awarded at the 39th Convocation ceremony starting on Monday is 1,875; out of which there are 92 Postgraduate Diplomas, 1,280 Masters from various Faculties, 179 Professional Masters, 1 MPhil and 323 PhDs.
Prof Egbewole said that a total of eight projects have been slated for inauguration during the convocation ceremonies on Tuesday by the visitor, President Bola Tinubu at various sites in the campus.
He listed the projects to be inaugurated to include: Faculty of Law Library Faculty of Law Professorial Suit, Faculty of Law Moot Court, Home Economics and Food Science Building.
Others are Asphalt overlay on the existing road surface from entrance to Senate Building, Solar Street Light from University Gate to Senate Building, Solar Street Light at Senate Building and Abuja Liaison Office Guest House.
Prof Egbewole said that the university enjoyed the support of TETFund to the tune of N1.656billion which was used to cover eleven physical infrastructure projects and academic staff training.
He added that the university equally received the sum of N250 million for Zonal intervention to execute different projects in the campus.
The VC said the university signed many Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with some foreign institutions for joint research projects and development like the MoU with North-China University of Water Resources and Electric Power to strengthen China-Africa cooperation in the area of curriculum development, collaboration research split site degree.
He said that MoU was also signed between the University and Broad Grains Limited, saying the company started a mechanised farming activity in the campus to expose Faculty of Agriculture students to practical experience in mechanised farming.
The VC explained that MoU was also signed between the University and British America Tobacco Nigeria Foundation for Graduate Agriprenuer project.
He said four alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture won N1.5 million each as participants on the 1st Cohort of BATNF-Unilorin GAP, which is still on going in the University’s farm land project.
