A group, ‘Arewa Youths Awareness on Leadership and Elections,’ in Bauchi state, has commended President Bola Tinubu for increasing the monthly allowance of the members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to N77,000.

Mr Khamis Darazo, the Chairman of the group made the commendation in Bauchi on Friday while addressing newsmen.

According to him, the increase in the monthly allowance of NYSC members was timely, considering the rising cost of living in the country.

He explained that the new allowance would help the corps members to cushion the effects of the rising cost of living, hikes in transportation fare, rising inflation, electricity and the removal of fuel subsidy.

He added that the gesture of the President portrayed the government’s sensitivity for the plights of the masses who were traumatised by the hardship in the country.

“Let me acknowledge the efforts of the federal government in being considerate to the plights of corps members at this critical time that Nigeria is going through a very harsh economic downturn.

“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for this laudable gesture which demonstrates the commitment of the president to empower Nigerian youths and acknowledge their inevitable contributions to national development”

“The president’s leadership and vision for a prosperous Nigeria are truly inspiring and this increase in allowance will positively boost the morale of the corps members and make them give their best during their service year,” he said.

Darazo, who had once donated his NYSC allowance to support President Tinubu’s presidential ambition during the 2023 election, further said that the President’s dedication to the welfare of corps members has reiterated the present administration’s commitment toward the welfare of its citizens.
