NYSC Commends Gov. Mohammed’s Massive Renovation, Refurbishment of Orientation Camp

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commended Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state for embarking on massive renovation and refurbishment of the permanent NYSC orientation camp in Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.

The Bauchi state Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu gave the commendation during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ stream II corps members at the temporary orientation camp at the Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, Kangere, Bauchi.

It could be recalled that the NYSC in the state announced the relocation of the permanent orientation Camp to the temporary one on Monday, due to the commencement of the renovation and upgrade as ordered by the state governor.

“On behalf of the Director General of NYSC Brig. Gen Y.D Ahmed, corps members, I wish to commend the governor for his unwavering commitment to the realisation of the NYSC objectives in the state.

“The ongoing renovations at the state NYSC permanent orientation camp, Wailo and the construction of new facilities are to their commitment to the welfare of corps members and camp officials.

“It’s worthy of note that the governor did not just stop at relocating the camp temporarily to this place, he went ahead to ensure that basic necessary facilities were provided and the structures were given facelift.

“He also constructed a brand new kitchen for us at this temporary camp, painted all the hostels for both camp officials and corps members as well as provided the canopies for ceremonies and other major activities.

“The governor went further to approve the construction of a new quarter guard for the camp, refurbishing of the camp Administrative blocks, clearing and sand filling of the parade ground, wiring of all the hostels amongst many others too numerous to mention here,” she said.

The state Coordinator promised that the scheme would continue to deploy corps members to areas of need for the development of the state in line with the NYSC posting policy.

According to her, out of the 1,900 corps members posted to the state, a total of 1,500 Corps Members, comprising 803 females and 697 males had been successfully registered.

In his address, governor Mohammed said his administration decided to support the scheme in every possible way to ensure the success of the Scheme in the State.

Represented by his Deputy, Alh Auwal Jatau, Mohammed said that the renovation and refurbishment of the permanent orientation camp was to provide a more conducive environment for both the NYSC staff, corps members and all the stakeholders present at the orientation exercise.

“Considering the NYSC programme as a catalyst for accelerated national development, I once again urge you, my esteemed corps members, to take the nation’s call to selfless service with utmost seriousness.

“The future of this country rests in your hands. You have a crucial role to play in shaping our collective destiny,” he said.

The Chief Justice of the state, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar represented by Justice Aliyu Idris administered the oath of allegiance on the corps members.
