Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has urged graduates of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, to make significant contributions to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education, particularly in the health sector.
Speaking at the institution’s maiden combined convocation, where he was represented by the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Arinde, Governor AbdulRazaq congratulated the graduates for their perseverance and dedication.
He emphasized the critical role they will play in the future of healthcare delivery in Kwara State and beyond.
“This administration is determined to improve the quality of education in Kwara, especially in vital sectors like health.
“The projects we commissioned today demonstrate our commitment to providing a conducive environment for learning and professional growth,” the Governor said.
The newly commissioned projects at the College include a 450-meter asphalt road, a 30-room female hostel, a College Store, laboratories for Dispensing Opticianry and Basic Science, a Biomedical Workshop, an Electronic Laboratory, a 300-capacity ICT hall, and new classrooms for Higher National Diploma students.
The Governor noted that these investments have transformed the institution into a mini-hospital, capable of producing graduates who will bridge the healthcare gap, particularly in rural communities.
Gov. AbdulRazaq assured the graduates that the knowledge and skills they acquired are vital for the betterment of Kwara State, urging them to serve with integrity and responsibility.
He also pledged continued collaboration with the College to build a brighter and healthier Kwara.
The Provost of the College, Dr. AbdulRauf Aliyu, highlighted that the institution, established in 1976, has produced over 60,000 health personnel and now offers 22 courses.
He praised the support and investment from the state government, which has been instrumental in the College’s success.
The convocation ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Dr. Muheebah Dankaka, and other top government officials, as well as traditional rulers and alumni of the institution.
