Kwara NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel Passes Vote of Confidence on Leadership

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Kwara State has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on its leadership, headed by Abdulhakeem Garba of Channels TV.

During an emergency congress held on Tuesday, the motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Nicholas Uwerunonye of Daily Independent and seconded by Oluseyi Dasilva of ARISE TV.

The motion highlighted the steadfastness of the leadership in ensuring the welfare and rights of its members, particularly before, during, and after the recent state council elections.

Mr. Uwerunonye praised the executive for demonstrating exemplary leadership over the past five years through various welfare programs that have positively impacted members’ lives.

He emphasized the importance of prioritizing members’ interests and avoiding unnecessary crises.

He also prayed for continued divine guidance for the executive members and urged the chapel to maintain its support.

In his remarks, Oluseyi Dasilva of ARISE TV echoed his colleague’s sentiments, noting that the current leadership had set a standard that others envy.

He stressed the importance of recognizing and appreciating the executives for their excellent performance.

Reacting to the motion, Chapel Chairman Abdulhakeem Garba expressed surprise, stating that the executive was merely fulfilling its constitutional duties.

However, he acknowledged the significance of the motion after being reminded by members that it had to be taken. With no objections raised, the motion was adopted.

Garba thanked the members for their confidence in the executive and called for continued unity, support ans understanding within the chapel.
