The Center for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), a Non-governmental organization in Bauchi state has commenced a two-day training for 30 Bauchi journalists on visual journalism in the state.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training on Thursday, the CITAD Programme Manager, Mr Mujahid Ibrahim, said the training was a collaboration with Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi state chapter.

According to him, the aim of the training was to impact the journalists with techniques to be able to use visual content creation softwares as well as improve their skills on digital storytelling.

He said “Our expectation is to change the perceptions of the journalists on the way and style of reporting from analogue to digital system of reporting.

“This becomes necessary because the importance of digital storytelling and digital transformation and speed in journalism cannot be overemphasized as the world is now a global village,” he said.

Also speaking, the state NUJ Chairman, Comrade Umar Sa’idu lauded the NGO for organizing the training considering the present challenges in journalism.

Represented by his Secretary, Isah Gadau, urged the journalists to focus more and learn during the training with a view to achieve the desired goals and objectives of the workshop.
