President Tinubu Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage, Promises Regular Reviews
President Bola Tinubu has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers, with a commitment to review the national minimum wage law every three years.
In addition, President Tinubu pledged to support the private sector and state governments in meeting the new wage requirements.
These announcements were made during a meeting with leaders of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday in Abuja, marking the second time the parties met in a week.
Labour leaders praised President Tinubu for his considerate actions. Furthermore, the President assured he would use his discretionary powers to address the demands of university unions seeking payment for four months of unpaid salaries.
