The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) says it is liasing with financial institutions and other stakeholders with a view to provide start-up loans to enable corps members actualize their business dreams.
Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, the Bauchi state Coordinator of NYSC, stated this on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ stream 1 corps members in the state.
The state Coordinator, who encouraged the corps members to build on the skills acquired while on camp, assured them that the management of the scheme would continue to explore avenues for optimizing the impact of the programme.
“Your participation in the entrepreneurial training conducted in Camp under the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme has been impressive.
“I encourage you to build on the skills acquired by availing yourselves of opportunities for post-camp training as this will go a long way in empowering you for self-reliance.
“The NYSC management is liaising with financial institutions and other stakeholders with a view to providing start-up loans to enable you to actualize your business dreams.
“I wish to assure you that management will continue to explore avenues for optimizing the impact of the programme,” she said.
She called on the corps members to perform their duties during the one year service with diligence and be guided by the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bye-Laws as well as workplace rules and regulations.
Yakubu also urged them to integrate into their host communities while also appreciating and respecting their cultures and traditions.
She further enjoined them to undertake personal and group Community Development Service (CDS) projects that would help to uplift the living standard of the people of their host communities.
It could be recalled that 1,500 2024 Batch ‘B’ corps members were posted to the state for the compulsory one year exercise.
