Transporters are not illiterates, we are experts in our field’ – RTEAN Boss

The Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Kwara Branch, Comrade Abdulrahman Onikijipa, has said that transporters are not illiterates but experts in their own field.

Onikijipa, who stated this in Ilorin on Thursday while speaking to journalists, said transporters are experts on their field and they should be respected by members of the  public.

According to him, most people tag transporters as illiterates and therefore disrespect them in the public.

” Transporters are experts on their field. They are not illiterates as portrayed by the public.

” Appreciate them and stop disrespecting them thinking they are just ordinary drivers.

” We have elites in Transport unions, we have more than enough graduates excelling in RTEAN and other transport unions, ” he said.

The chairman also said the union members are being sensitized consistently on safety tips and road ethics and profession.

He appealed to the public and all road users to be safety conscious and stop claiming right on the highway in order to reduce carnage on our roads.
