We are ready for leadership positions says CBW-Africa, President Mrs. Ngozi Oyewole
The Continental President of Commonwealth Business Women Africa, CBW-Africa, Mrs. Ngozi Oyewole has emphasised the need for women to take their rightful place in the running of Nigeria and the Africa continent.
Mrs. Ngozi Oyewole who stated this at the breakfast roundtable programme of the Organisation in Abuja themed “Empowering women in leadership overcoming barriers and driving change” said women are ready and determined to take the leadership seats with the level of awareness and education they are exposed to.
The CBW-Africa President explained that women are not lagging behind as they are building up themselves to realize their potentials as Nation builders hence the needed education and constant training.
She expressed confidence that in the very near future they would definitely take the leadership seats.
“We are not resting on our oars as we are regularly organizing trainings, workshops and seminars across Nigeria and the Continent to proper expose women to be abreast of events in all stratas of the economy” she added.
Mrs Ngozi Oyewole noted that presently the Organisation is in twenty five Countries in Africa calling on women to rise up and be change makers.
The President added that the body
had not received support from the government as it had been self funded by members.
She emphasized the need for women to empower others using their positions, their voice to make the change and breakdown barriers.
Mrs Ngozi Oyewole appealed to the three tiers of government to support the initiative by providing ICT centers and positively engage women in productive ventures in their desire to work for the progress of the Nation and the Continent .
On her part, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr Mrs Safiya Binang Abbanum who is the co-founder / MD Unique plus Paris international Ltd Europe & Africa supported the ideas to empower women to make them productive and break down the necessary barriers in the wheel of progress of the womenfolk.
In her Keynote address championing gender equality in leadership, the Coordinator for the Jam’s iyan Matan Arewa, Hajiya Aisha Mahmoud stressed the need to proper mentor women to realize their full potentials and contribute their quota to the development of the Continent.
The Coordinator Abuja Group of CBW Africa Nigeria chapter, Erulu Oodua Florida Okunowo JP moderated the panel discussion with emphasis on Navigating gender bias and stereotype in leadership moderator
The programme also featured interactive round table discussion.focusing on Mentorship and sponsorship: The role of mentorship sponsorship women’s and Allyship in supporting women’s leadership development anchored by the Manager of the daughter of Abraham center.
It also featured advocacy and collaboration mobilizing collective action to drive systematic change and empower women leaders, breaking the glass ceiling address challenges and stereotype that hinder women’s advancement in leadership roles,
Building conference and resilience strategy for overcoming self doubt imposter syndrome and other psychology barriers and creating inclusive work environment promoting diversity equality and inclusion in leadership positions.
Others speakers at the event are Head of Protocol of Abuja Group CBW Africa Nigeria chapter, Olori Omolara Babatunde Soares, Chief Mrs Victoria Awomolo SAN, Mrs Godiya Ezeaguwla director DOAF Daughter of Abraham foundation and Pharmacist Abdul Kareem Afolabi Chairman/ CEO Ollan Pharmacy.
