NALVEJ Urges FG, Labour To Seek Amicable Resolution To New Minimum Wage Impasse
The National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) in Kwara State, has called on the Federal Government and the organised labour to seek an amicable resolution to the lingering crisis over the implementation of the new minimum wage for workers in the country.
The league made the call during its monthly meeting, held in Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday.
It appealed to the federal government to expedite action on the implementation of a reasonable minimum wage for the workers, while it also urged the leaders of thev organised labour to be reasonable on their new minimum wage template.
The league in a statement signed by its chairman, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi and publicity secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin, also urged the federal government to double its efforts at securing lives and property across the country.
It lamented the alarming spate of kidnaping of innocent residents and payment of ransom by the victims’ family to the abductors.
On palliatives to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal, the league opined that selling of foodstuff at dubsidized rates to Nigerians will be a better option.
It urged journalists to be fair in their reportage of political events in the country so as not to overheat the polity.
During the meeting, the league played host to a former spokesman of Kwara State Police Command, Alhaji Salihu Mohammed Woru.
In a brief remarks, Woru who is also the Magaji Nda of Ilorin, urged the veterans and Nigerians generally to be security conscious at all time.
