Kwara Govt Debunks Outbreak of Any Cattle Poisoning 

The Kwara State Government says there is no outbreak of disease and spread of infections in any abattoir and slaughter houses in Ilorin Metropolis and its environs.

The Kwara State Government speaking through the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Funke Sokoya said necessary actions had been taken always to ensure the safety of all at all times.

Mrs Sokoya stated that the Veterinary Department of the Ministry, also followed Public Health Regulations and maintain Hygienic Standard at Mandate Slaughter Slab and others and ensure the proper disposal of the affected carcasses.

She urged the general public to disregard any news on incidents of cattle poisoning, saying that there are no such issues in kwara State as all the slaughtered animals are edible and good for consumption.

Also speaking, the Director Veterinary Services, Doctor Abdullateef Salman Olugbon stated that exactly a month ago there was news about cattle poisoning and as part of the measures to ensure the safety of the people, fumigation exercise were carried out at the Mandate Market Abattoir to ensure adequate disposal of contaminated carcasses.

Doctor Olugbon described untrue
case of cattle poisoning in the state, advising the public to buy and eat slaughtered beef assuring that it is free from any form of disease and poisoning.

He assured the General Public that the Safety of the people is of great concern to the government and that there was no outbreak and spread of any infections in the Abattoir and the State in general.
