Kwara Fire Service Embarks on Enlightenment Campaign in Ilorin
Kwara State Fire Service has taken its enlightenment campaign to Yoruba Road in Ilorin, where market women and men were given sensitization lecture on how to prevent fire outbreak.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Head of Department, Media and Publicity, Mr Hassan Adekunle and made available to newsmen in Ilorin.
On Thursday April 25, 2024, the Media Team of the Kwara State Fire Service, led by SFO Hassan Adekunle, Head of Department for Media and Publicity, the Yoruba Road Market for this year’s sensitization programme.
Fortunately, the programme coincided with the market vendors’ regular meeting, allowing for maximum participation and engagement.
The team effectively sensitized the vendors on basic firefighting techniques and the common causes of incessant fires in the state.
The vendors paid keen attention and were thrilled to receive the training, leading to a positive response from the market leadership.
The market head expressed gratitude to the State Government and the Kwara State Fire Service management for their proactive approach to fire safety and prevention.
Notably, officers from the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Agency (KWARTMA) were also present at the programme. They provided guidelines on road traffic management and emphasized the importance of not encroaching on the road with their goods, promoting a safer and more organized market environment.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, was pleased with the way the market vendors coordinated and responded to the sensitization program.
He advised the vendors to remain vigilant and proactive in preventing fire outbreaks, emphasizing that fire safety is a collective responsibility.
He also commended the Media Team for their dedication and efforts in promoting fire safety awareness across the state.
