Residents of Igbonna Community in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State have been thrown to anguish and tears as heavy rainstorm had wreaked havoc on several buildings.

Victims are at the moment counting their losses in the community following the havoc caused by the rainstorms, during which rooftops of several houses were blown off.

Speaking after an on-the-spot assessment of the devastation, Barr. A. S Salami, the National President of Igbonna Descendants Development Union, IDPU, described the occurrence as highly devastating.

According to him, “the experience is worrisome. Few houses, if any, were left untouched by the storms from the heavy rain. Some houses were completely blown off while a good number of our people’s houses were either brought down or badly damaged.”

Speaking further, Barr. Salami said, “The incident is unprecedented in history as the stock of the disaster is so great to the extent that most of our people are in confusion and will hardly find where to sleep.”

As we speak, the economic and normal lifestyle of the entire community had been grounded as the vulnerable victims of the disaster are at loss as to what to do or where to put their heads for safety.

In view of this, members of the community are calling on the government and good spirited individuals and organizations to promptly come to the aids of the community.
