Gov. Mohammed Lauds NYSC on Provision of Credible Elections

Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has commended the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members across the country for providing support for credible elections processes.
Mohammed made the commendation during the swearing in ceremony of the 2024 Batch “A” Stream 1 Corps Members at the permanent Orientation Camp, Wailo, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.
According to Mohammed, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Auwal Jatau, the roles played by the NYSC members in electoral matters have over the years not only brought credibility but also stability to the processes.
The governor also acknowledged the contributions of corps members in the fight against some deadly pandemics through various awareness programmes that have been put in place to free humanity from the ‘monsters’.
“I am also aware that during this orientation, many of you will be trained on the basic modalities of Sustainable Development Goals, Freedom of Information Act awareness campaigns among others.
“Government appreciates the efforts of all the training agencies and hope that the exercise will be more vigorous and penetrating than ever.
“I want to assure you of the readiness of the State Government at all times to improve the lot of the scheme and the Corps Members for the overall good of all,” he said.
The governor added that NYSC had over the years imparted to the youths a tradition of industry, hard work, patriotism and loyalty in service.
He said this is evident in the activities of corp members that has positively affected the socio-economic development of the country through community efforts that were aimed at enhancing growth and progress.
Mohammed further reiterated the commitment of the government to accord top priority to the welfare and security of corps members in any part of the state.
Earlier, the state Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Rifkatu Yakubu, said the orientation course programme was designed to prepare the corps members mentally, physically and emotionally for the service year.
According to her, at the end of registration, a total of 1,276 corps members, comprising of 697 males and 579 females were registered and have so far adjusted to the realities of the regimented camp environment.
