Lagos PDP Chairman’s Abductors Demand N200m Ransom

 

The Chairman, Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Philip Aivoji, has been kidnapped by gunmen.

He was kidnapped on Thursday, January 25, at Ogere area along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway around 6 pm, while coming back to Lagos from the PDP South-West Zonal meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

It was further learnt that another member of the Lagos State PDP Exco, who was said to have escaped from being kidnapped, is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Meanwhile, the abductors have demanded N200 million ransom.

When contacted, Ogun state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola, told PREMIUM TIMES that there was an abduction, but failed to name the victim.

However, the party’s publicity secretary in the state, Hakeem Amode, in a statement on Friday, confirmed the abduction of its Mr Aivoji. He called on security agencies and government authorities at all levels to intervene promptly and secure the release of its chairman.
