Kwara State Fire Service Saves Property Worth N68m From Inferno
Kwara State Fire Service has saved a total estimated property worth N68.5 million while property worth N4.6 million was lost to a fire incident at No. 48 Basin Road, opposite CAC Church, Basin, Ilorin South Local Government Area, Kwara State.
This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Hassan Adekunle, Head of Department, Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service and made available to newsmen in Ilorin.
According to him, on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at approximately 02:06 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to a fire incident at No. 48 Basin Road, opposite CAC Church, Basin, Ilorin South Local Government Area, Kwara State.
The fire crew promptly departed the station and upon arrival at the scene, encountered a fierce blaze engulfing a block of 8 shops, resulting in damage to 2 of them. Demonstrating remarkable skill, the firemen successfully brought the inferno under control by 02:20 hours.
Subsequent investigation identified the cause of the incident as a power surge.
In conclusion, Director Prince Falade John of the Kwara State Fire Service advises the public to diligently switch off their appliances when not in use, emphasizing the importance of preventive measures.
