Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin Refutes Story on Subsidy Removal Affecting FRSC Operations

The management of the Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, has advised the Daily Trust Newspaper to retract or correct its story with the caption ” SUBSIDY REMOVAL AFFECTING OUR OPERATIONS” carried on November 11th,  2023.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Information Unit, Al-Hikmah University,
Ilorin,  and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday.

“The attention of the management of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, has been drawn to a story in the Daily Trust of Saturday, 11 November 2023, under the above caption which gives the impression that the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Fredrick Ogidan derogatory remarks marks on the fuel subsidy.

“The Management of Al-Hikmah University wishes to state emphatically that the Sector Commander did not make any such remark at the event.

“To put the record straight, the University Management invited the Sector Commander and his officers to the University on Friday, 10th November 2023, for the investiture of the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, as Special Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

“This was in recognition of his immense contributions to the Corps and, more importantly, in ensuring zero accidents along the recently constructed Al-Hikmah University Road through road safety advocacy.

“At the event, the Founder requested the Zonal Commander to increase the patrol of the University Road of which he assured the Founder that the Command would do its best to ensure more coverage, despite the constraints of fueling operational vehicles at times.

“We also need to clarify that neither the Founder nor the Sector Commander granted an interview to the Press.

“Therefore, the story on the event from Daily Trust is purely a misrepresentation, and, as such, not a true reflection of happenings at the event. All inconveniences to the directorate of the Federal Road Safety Corps are highly regretted.

“The Management of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, therefore, requests a refutal of this story by Daily Trust, failure of which we have to resort to legal action, ” the statement added.
