ECWA Theological Seminary Urges Graduating Students to be Good Ambassador

By Emmanuel Kehinde, Ilorin

The Provost of the ECWA Theological Seminary and ECWA College of Education, Igbaja in the Ifelodun local government area of Kwara state, Dr. John Olu

Adetoyese has charged the graduating students of the institution to be agents of change to return sanity to a society that is in a very critical state.

The Provost made the charge at the 60th graduation ceremony of the Seminary and College of Education, held at the auditorium of the school in Igbaja, Kwara astray, capital, he said that the graduands have received the needed training that would make them a good ambassador of Christianity.

“As I keep saying, it is more challenging to remain a Christian now than before, not to talk about being a servant of God now. While we do not understand the twists and turns of this world, we can rely on the faithfulness of God and His ever-sufficient grace to keep us steady.

“Many well-trained ministers of the gospel, some of whom were even trained from here, have lost their identity and allowed the world around them to make them into something else that is not glorifying to God and His gospel.

“But as for you, as Paul would say to Timothy, keep yourself pure as a vessel of honour. You have a mandate to preach Christ and allow Him to use you in whatever capacity to return sanity to the world around you.

“Our nation is in a very critical state and whether we still believe it or not, the church is the solution. But a church that is fast losing its saltiness, how can it preserve the society?

“Thank God our new president has a mandate of `Renewed Hope`. We are equally renewing our hope that very soon Leah Shaibu and other victims of circumstances will be rescued. May God, the Father of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ help him to succeed in Jesus` name,” he said.

The institution graduates the following categories of students: undergraduate 224, postgraduates/master 80, Doctor of Ministry 19 and five honorary awardees and a total number of 25 graduated from the College of Education.

The Provost added that the institution has been receiving different accolades based on the quality of its programs and said the members of the public should be bold enough to recommend ECWA Theological Seminary and College of Education Igbaja to aspiring students.

In his convocation lecture, theme “Nigerian Economic Reality and The Survival of the Church” Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Oluwatoyin Adeleye, identified challenges militating against the growth of Nigeria as Corruption, Exchange rate, Inflation and Unemployment, and economic challenges on the Church as insufficient funds.
