The Vice-Chancellor University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole has disclosed that the University received ₦954,732,123.00, from TETFund as an intervention fund.
The Vice-Chancellor made this disclosure on Saturday at the Combined 37th and 38th Convocation Ceremonies of the University held at the institution’s main auditorium Ilorin.
He said the University continued to enjoy the support of TETFUND as an intervention fund of ₦954,732,123.00 was allocated to the University by TETFUND for the year 2023 to cover eleven (11) specific areas.
“Equally, the University received a TETFund award of Five Hundred Million (₦500,000,000.00) for hostel accommodation for our students and Two Hundred Million (₦200,000,000.00) for Zonal Interventions.
“The University is using the funds to execute different projects across its campus,” he said.
He said the university in its commitment to overcoming the transportation challenges facing staff and students, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Intramodal System Consortium on the provision of a timeline on a Public Private Partnership basis.
The VC said the deliberate choice of MoS instead of MoU is their conviction that the project is a doable and unwavering dedication to making the vision a reality.
According to him, research and innovation are the lifeblood of our institution. The University of Ilorin is one of the highest contributing institutions to patency in Nigeria with 36 patents.
Prof. Egbewole noted that today’s Convocation is a reflection of the values and principles that underpin the
University of Ilorin.
He said the institution is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, critical
thinking, and lifelong learning.
“Our graduates leave these hallowed halls not only with degrees but with a strong foundation for making meaningful contributions to our society and the world at large.
“As we celebrate the achievements of our graduates, let us also remember that
education is a lifelong journey.
“The knowledge and skills you have acquired here are tools that will empower you to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
“The world is ever-evolving, and your ability to adapt, learn, and grow will be
paramount. Your generation is driven by technology and it is the tool to rule that
future that just dawned on you today.
