UNILORIN Produces 36 Patents With FG Towards Impact Society, Devt
The Vice-Chancellor University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole says the university has produced a total number of thirty-six patents geared towards impacting society and developing the nation.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed this while speaking at the 37th and 38th 2021/2022 combined convocation ceremony of the University, held at the University Auditorium, in Ilorin, Kwara state.
He said that research and innovation are the lifeblood of the university, saying that the patents were produced with the federal government through the National Office of Technology, Acquisition and Promotion (NATOP) to boost research and innovation.
Professor Egbewole said the number of patents were produced in various disciplines which included Medicine, Agriculture, Engineering, and Information Technology among others.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the various patents are currently being positioned for commercialisation as the institution’s researchers are geared towards impacting society and developing the community.
According to him, the university is committed to fostering a culture of excellence critical thinking and lifelong learning.
The Vice-Chancellor explained that the graduates of the institution are trained with a strong foundation for making meaningful contributions to nation-building.
Professor Egbewole noted that the remarkable milestones achieved by the university in terms of ranking were a testament to the hard work and dedication of staff and students.
He advised the graduates to be of good behaviour and seek knowledge at all times.
A total of 10,757 graduates were awarded a first degree, Diploma, Postgraduate Diplomas and Ph.D. at the University 2021/2022 convocation ceremony, while a total of 14,477 graduates were awarded degrees on Thursday by the institution.
