Israel’s Response to Hamas Attacks Will Change Middle East – Netanyahu
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Middle East will alter as a result of Israel’s reaction to Hamas attacks launched from Gaza.
Netanyahu warned authorities from southern Israeli towns, “What Hamas will face will be harsh and terrible.” We’re just getting started, he said.
In reaction to Hamas attacks on Saturday that killed more than 700 Israelis, Israel has launched airstrikes on targets in the Gaza Strip.
2,400 more people were hurt, and militants from Hamas abducted more than 100 Israelis back to the Gaza Strip.
However, the Gaza Ministry of Health reports that more than 2,800 people have been hurt and more than 558 people have died as a result of Israeli airstrikes.
Hamas is classified as a terrorist organisation in Israel, the European Union and the U.S.
CNN reports that:
- The Israeli military is going on the offence against Hamas with a force “like never before,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed Monday, more than 48 hours after a devastating and surprising attack that has left at least 900 people dead in Israel.
- Videos show the horror on the ground, including an attack on a music festival where Israeli rescuers say they found 260 people dead. Other clips show Israeli civilians being captured.
- Hamas said civilian hostages would be executed without warning and the killings broadcasted if Israel targets people in Gaza. The group claims to be holding more than 100 hostages, including Israeli army officers.
- Israel’s defence minister said he has ordered the “complete siege” of Gaza, cutting off electricity, food, fuel and water to the enclave. This comes as Israel has pounded the enclave with airstrikes. More than 680 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
