FRSC Threatens To Show Corrupt Officers Way Out Of Service

 

Federal Road Safety Commission has vowed to show corrupt officers the way out from time to time from the corps.

CC F. A Ogidan,  Sector Commander,  RS8.1 Kwara State made this disclosure in a statement in Ilorin on Monday while reacting to the report of extortion and lawlessness of the few bad ones in the corps.

According to him,  we will like to place it on records that not all FRSC Patrol Men are saints; those who are corrupt are shown the way out from time to time.

“The attention of the General Public is humbly drawn to a malicious and hasty generalization of FRSC Staff of Kwara as being corrupt and lawless.”

We want to categorically respond as follows;
“That as the lead Agency in Road Traffic Management in Africa, FRSC is committed to reducing carnages on Nigerian Roads and bring a drastic reduction to Road Traffic Crashes and its attendant deaths.

In achieving this mandate amongst others, enforcement of Traffic Laws and Violation is the next step after a robust Public Enlightenment which helps us achieve the goal of reducing Road Traffic Crashes and Fatality.

To this end, FRSC Kwara has been embarking on robust Patrol Operations, Public Enlightenment and Education and Prompt Rescue Services towards the accomplishment of 5% reduction in Road Traffic Crashes as our set Goal in 2023 which we have been achieving up till the end of August, 2023.

However, I would like to seize the opportunity to inform members of the public of various method being employed by recalcitrant Traffic Violators and those poised to continue to do things their own ways which includes to intimidate, bribe their ways and even corrupt Staff on the road which we have resisted.

Their latest device at sponsoring Newspaper publications will never dampen our morals as we are not ready to look back as our enforcement in the State has led to more compliance and a drastic reduction in Road Traffic Crashes and Fatality.

While thanking the members of the Press for their support in reversing this ugly monsters of Road Traffic Crashes and the attendant Fatality, we urge them to appeal to their colleagues in the Press to always endeavor to hear both sides of the Story before rushing to Press.

We will like to place it on records that not all FRSC Patrol Men are saints; those who are corrupt are shown the way out from time to time.

Members of the Public who are asked to give bribe should resist and inform the Command by simply identifying the Patrol Car Code, Route and the Location where they are stopped and the names of the Patrolmen which are printed on their uniforms for appropriate actions.
On the recent court judgment in the case of CA/AS/276/2019 at the court of appeal, we will like to place on record that FRSC is studying the judgment with a view to appealing the Judgment.

However, we are committed to serving the motoring public, as such, Law abiding Motorists have nothing to fear.
