Expert Says Security, Responsibility of Everybody
Nigerians have been urged to support security agencies in ensuring safety and security across the country.
Dr. Oluwadare Ojo of the Institute of Security Nigeria, University of Lagos (UNILAG), made the call while speaking at a Public lecture and launching of functional Police Memo written by the Commissioner of Police Kwara state command, Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi in Ilorin.
He said that based on the reality at hand security is the responsibility of every individual in the society.
According to him securing an area will automatically make the residents safe.
Dr Ojo attributed unemployment and illiteracy to be the major causes of insecurity in society.
He advised the general public against engaging in the act of jungle Justice to ensure peaceful coexistence.
In his remarks, the governor of Kwara state, AbdulRahman AbdulRazq, represented by the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi expressed worry over the rising case of insecurity in the state.
He commended the efforts of the state Police Command for ensuring Crime reduction.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Commissioner of Police Kwara state command, Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi advised the criminal elements in the state to shun the act and turn a new leaf.
She assured the determination of the command to reduce the activities of criminals in the state to the minimum.
In her address, former Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dr Nimota Akanbi urged the Commissioner of Police not to relent in her effort to ensure effective policing of the state.
The theme of the lecture and launching of the Functional Police Memo is”Security Awareness And Consciousness As A Catalyst For Effective And Efficient Security In. Kwara State”
