AIG Ishola Lauds Safer School Programme By Police

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone Eight, Babatunde Ishola says the introduction of a saver school programme by the Nigeria Police will provide the required safety and security in elementary and tertiary institutions across the country.
AIG, Ishola disclosed while addressing police officers and men during his familiarisation visit at the command headquarters in Ilorin, Kwara state.
He said the safety of schools and educational institutions is of concern to the police.
AIG Ishola said the Police will use all available human and material resources to mitigate the heightened danger students and staff of educational institutions are exposed to in the country.
“The safety of schools and educational
institutions are of key concern to the police, which will continue to use all available human and material resources to mitigate the heightened danger students, staff and educational facilities/Institutions are exposed to in the country in recent
times.” He said
He explained that the Police have put in place strategies to checkmate such incidents.
AIG Ishola noted that a school protection squad has been set up to serve as an intervention unit to curb the menace of abduction of students in schools.
He maintained that a technology-driven approach will be adopted to ensure the success of the programme.
“By harnessing the power of technology, we can make our streets safer, our investigations more efficient, and our communities more resilient. We cannot afford to be reactive; we must be
proactive in our approaches by equally collaborating with other security agencies (both domestic and international) to strengthen our intelligence network and dismantle criminal enterprises” he said
AIG Ishola urged police officers and men to discharge their duties by the provisions of the Constitution.
“Embracing the principles of transparency, accountability, and professionalism, while upholding the rights and welfare of both our officers and the communities we serve.” He added
Earlier in her welcome address the Commissioner of Police Kwara State Command, Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi said the diverse nature of the state makes policing complex.
She said the adoption of a community policing strategy has been yielding positive results.
