2023 UTME Application Statistics: Kwara State Polytechnic Leads Top Ten Polytechnics/Monotechnics Choices

 

 

In the recently released 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application statistics, several polytechnics and monotechnics across Nigeria have emerged as popular choices among prospective students. The data reveals the top ten institutions based on the total number of applications received for the upcoming academic year. Let’s take a closer look at the rankings.

 

Securing the top position is Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, in Kwara State, with a staggering 9,587 applications. This institution has seen a significant rise in popularity, moving up from the second position in 2022 and 2021, and even surpassing its 6th place ranking in 2020. The 0.60% application percentage showcases the growing interest in the institution.

 

 

Following closely in second place is the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, in Nasarawa State, which received 7,191 applications, representing a 0.45% application percentage. This institution has shown consistent improvement, climbing up from the sixth position in both 2022 and 2021. It was not listed among the top ten institutions in 2020, making its current standing quite impressive.

 

Kaduna Polytechnic, located in Kaduna State, occupies the third spot with 6,758 applications. Despite a slight decline from its first-place position in both 2022 and 2021, this institution remains a popular choice among students, attracting a considerable number of applicants. The 0.42% application percentage underscores its continued prominence.

Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, in Ogun State, secures the fourth position with 6,442 applications and a 0.40% application percentage. Maintaining its consistent performance, it holds the same ranking as in 2022 and 2021. The institution’s reputation and academic offerings continue to attract aspiring students.

Yaba College of Technology, situated in Yaba, Lagos State, is placed fifth with 6,389 applications, reflecting a 0.40% application percentage. This institution has remained steadfast in the rankings, holding the fourth position in both 2022 and 2021, and the fifth position in 2020. Its enduring appeal makes it a preferred choice for many students.

 

In the sixth position, Federal Polytechnic, Offa, in Kwara State, received 4,516 applications, resulting in a 0.28% application percentage. Although it has slipped from its previous fifth position in 2022 and 2021, it had secured the second spot in 2020. The institution’s academic excellence continues to draw interest from prospective students.

Auchi Polytechnic, located in Auchi, Edo State, is ranked seventh, with 3,743 applications. Although it did not feature among the top ten institutions in the previous years, it has made a notable entry into the rankings this year, indicating an increasing recognition of its offerings.

The Polytechnic, Ibadan, in Oyo State, occupies the eighth position with 3,181 applications, reflecting a 0.20% application percentage. It has witnessed a slight decline from its ninth-place position in 2022 but has maintained a consistent presence in the top ten over the years.

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, located in Abeokuta, Ogun State, secures the ninth position with 3,087 applications. Although it did not feature in the top ten institutions in recent years, it has made a commendable entry this year, highlighting its growing popularity.

 

Finally, Gateway ICT Polytechnic in Saapade, Ogun State, completes the top ten with 2,900 applications. While it did not feature in the top ten institutions in the previous years, it has emerged as a noteworthy choice in the current application cycle.

The 2023 UTME application statistics for these top ten polytechnics and monotechnics indicate the evolving preferences and aspirations of Nigerian students. The institutions’ reputations, academic programs, and infrastructural development have played a significant role in attracting applicants. As the admission process progresses, it remains to be seen how these institutions will fare in terms of student enrollment and academic excellence.
