Prof Egbewole Greets Muslims on Eid-el-Kabir
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has felicitated with Muslims, particularly those of the institution, on this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival.
In a statement signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, the Vice Chancellor said that the occasion calls for celebration, saying that it is not all those who yearned for it that are privileged to be part of the celebration.
Prof. Egbewole, who wished Muslims a very peaceful and colourful celebration, however, said, “While celebrating, they should spare a moment to reflect on the genesis and essence of the Eid-el Kabir festival, which revolves around faithfulness, loyalty, sacrifice, trustworthiness and kindness”.
The Vice Chancellor recalled the uncommon faith demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and the submissiveness of his son, Ismail as he said that the interactions between the two remains a great example for the rest of humanity.
The renowned legal luminary advised Muslims to share with others what Allah has given them to deserve more divine favour, saying that generosity and kindness are the cornerstone of the annual celebration.
The Vice Chancellor, who assured the staff and students of the University that his administration would continue to prioritise their welfare, pleaded for their loyalty and cooperation in his avowed mission to rebuild the University towards becoming the first in Nigeria.
