Team Tunde Akande Wins Kwara Badminton Competition

Kwara State Stadium Badminton Veterans Club organised relay Competition for two of its members, who retired from civil service and one bestowed with award has been won by Team Tunde Akande.

Team Tunde Akande defeated team Pharmacist Lanre Alege sixty six-fifty seven points to win the competition having edged out Team Adedeji Geshinde Fregene with sixty six-sixty four points in the first round.

On the other hand, Team Alege beat Team Engineer Kamila Wopa sixty six-fifty nine points to zoomed to the final and eventually lost to Team Tunde Akande in the final.

Addressing the participants, the Captain of the Club, Alhaji Wahab Oba applauded them for honouring the recipients adding that the Club would continue to support the development of the game of Badminton.

Alhaji Wahab Oba called on the government not to relent in its support to sports.

The Captain congratulated the recipients for reaching the pinnacle of their carrier and successful retirement.

The Chairman Main Organising Committee, Yinka Abolarin had earlier said the competition was out together to honour three of its members and thanked members for their active participation in the competition.

The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Sports Commission, Bola Mogaji later presented gifts to the three recipients and the winning teams.

The Competition featured active Players, Court 3 and Court 4 members to Celebrate, Engineer Kamila Wopa FNSE who was recently bestowed with the Prestigious award of the fellowship of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering, Alhaji Amosa Adedeji Fregene who was promoted to the peak of his career as the State’s Permanent Secretary and Pharmacist Lanre Alege, Fellow Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria FPSN who just retired as the Deputy Director, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
