Subsidy: ECWA Urges President Tinubu To Provide Palliatives

President Bola Tinubu has again been enjoined to ensure meticulous use of the proceeds from fuel subsidy removal to provide palliatives and massive infrastructure in transportation, education, health care and power sector to mitigate current challenges facing the people and better the lots of the down trodden masses of Nigeria.

In a Communique issued at the end of its fifteenth Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA Fate/Tanke District Church Council Meeting held on Friday in Ilorin, its urged “Mr. President, Federal Republic of Nigeria to: Promote equality and equity, justice, fairness and inclusive governance for peace, stability and prosperity across the Nation”.

The Communique signed by its Chairman, Rev’d Dr Raphael S Omotosho, and Secretary, Rev Dr Joseoph O Agboluaje, the Council congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other Governors across the Nation on their election and inauguration.

In similar vein, It implored Mr. Governor of Kwara State to: “Attend to the outstanding requests of the Christian Community in Kwara State on return of Mission schools to their owners and other allied matters.

“Ensure inclusiveness in governance that transcends religious, ethnic or tribal bias.Use his privileged position of due popularity, recognition and prominence in the present Government to attract more projects from the National to Kwara State”.

“On the whole, the meeting was attended by 41 members across board and chaired by Rev’d Dr Raphael. S. Omotosho, the Chairman, Fate-Tanke District Church Council. Rev’d Benjamin Nasara, the representative of ECWA Executive who anchored the elections admonished us from the book of Daniel 6:1-5 and counseled us on the fundamentals of good leadership of accountability, effectiveness, excellent/outstanding/exceptional spirit and faithfulness, which emerging members must imbibe to move the Council forward” it added.

It emphasized the essence of prayers for the attainment of set goals, therefore, Council resolved that “Bonfire, Catch the Fire, and Spread the Fire” campaign launched by the ECWA Prayer Unit in Jos should be undertaken as a priority and that all the LCCs and all Local Churches should follow the prayer guidelines given by the Prayer Unit of ECWA in Jos.

On Court Cases in ECWA, the Council encouraged adoption of strategies to mitigate litigations in ECWA, urging the leadership to be sufficiently grounded in ECWA rules and regulations encapsulated in Operational Books and Policies.

Council appreciated the support of all the other structures of ECWA for ECWA Spiritual Mothers in Ministry (ESMIM) in view of the importance of the new arm to undertake their roles as Mother of mothers: Spiritual mothers and Spiritual Advisers in the Church.

The Council congratulated three new officials just elected to leadership positions in ECWA Fate/Tanke Distict Church Council in person including: Rev’d Dr. Samuel O Olayioye as Chairman, first term of three years, Rev’d Dr. David A. Taiwo, Assistant Secretary, first term of 3 years and Elder James J Sangoyomi as Treasurer, second term of three years.

The Council prayed for God’s divine guidance and wisdom to enable them work for the expansion of HIS Kingdom here on earth.

“As analogue operation is giving way to digital in our day-to-day activities, the Council encouraged the use of Point of Sale (P O S) an one of the E-Banking systems in our Local Assemblies in the DCC, in view of its value to ease our financial transactions” it noted.

The Council implored all Local Churches to conduct the July 09, 2023 elections into Local Church Boards according to ECWA Constitution and Bye-laws with that of Fellowship following suit, as against the rule of the thumb hitherto in use.Installation of elected officials at the LCB levels will come up on Sunday, July 16, 2023, while the LCC elections will hold after the transfer of Pastors must have been effected.

On Cashless Economic Policy, Members received comprehensive briefings on the numerous benefits of cashless economy as it relate essentially to the Church of God. Prime amongst these are: increased convenience, members were urged to commit more financial resources to the coffers of the Church, promote accountability and transparency to the pews and also create opportunity to know members who are financially committed to the cause of God. Council therefore encouraged members to key in to cashless policy which is the language of the moment nationally and across the globe to draw maximum benefit therefrom.

The Council expressed satisfaction with the promotion and upgrade of Missionaries in the DCC and the salutary effect on evangelism. It urged the beneficiaries of the good gesture to justify the confidence reposed in them and admonished those left behind to remain steadfast for it will soon be their turn to benefit from the gesture.

The Council noted with concern that the construction of Pastorium at Panada started by ECWA, Kulende, Ilorin, some years back still remained at lintel level, leaving the Pastor in charge of the Church and his family of six in a one room apartment. To rectify this anomaly, Council admonished the Men Fellowship of the DCC to make good its promise to complete the building for the use of the Pastor who also doubles as a member of the Men Fellowship.

The Council noted a total number of 129 Nursery/Primary schools and 120 Secondary schools across board in ECWA International and aligned with the position of ECWA Headquarters that any of the schools yet to be registered with ECWA should do so within the stipulated period of between January and August, to enjoy accruing benefit therefrom.

The Council felicitated with Rev’d Dr. Raphael Shola Omotosho on his successful three-year tenure as the Chairman ECWA Fate/Tanke DCC and praised God for him for allowing God to use him and for finishing well in the arduous assignment.

“It acknowledge and recognized that his tenure was not only eventful but achievement packed. It wished him well as he prepares to bow out of ECWA service. It however admonished him to continue to identify with the Council and pray for its success in all its undertakings”.
