Nigeria Immigration Service Kwara Command Decorates 43 Newly Promoted Officers
The Comptroller of NIS in Kwara, Mr Aminu Shamsuddin has charged the newly promoted officers to demonstrate sound professional judgement in their decisions, as they were responsible for their actions and inactions.
The Comptroller made the statement during the decoration of newly promoted officers of the command in Ilorin, on Thursday.
Forty-three (43) newly promoted officers were decorated while 23 others were upgraded on merit of seniority.
Shamsuddin said, “to whom much is given, much is expected, so we expect more from you.
“I trust that you will not fail the service and the nation in the new responsibility that your new rank shall impose on you.
“Interestingly, another set of promotion is expected later within the year, so I want all the officers, especially those that were not promoted to work hard and make use of the opportunity,” he said.
The comptroller said that the ministry of interior, the board and NIS management belief in growth and the service welfare of immigration officers, by recognizing their potentials and promoting eligible ones.
He said that the officers were promoted by merit, saying that many took the promotion examination but only the qualified ones were selected.
“As a strategic paramilitary agency, saddled with the responsibility of maintaining the nation’s general security and migration management, so the need for a multipulated workforce cannot be over-emphasized.
“The rapid changing dynamic of migration, especially in passport is to enhance the service,” he said.
Shamsuddin explained that the need to encourage foreign direct investment with the nation’s economy by a foreigner requires a motivated immigration officer with the requisite professional knowledge, experience and competency.
The comptroller congratulated all the newly promoted officers and looked forward to those expecting promotion to be promoted.
It would be recalled that those promoted and upgraded to another level includes; DCI (2), CSI (14), SI (3), DSI (18), ASI1 (6), ASI2 (17) and upgraded ASI2 (6).
