Kwarans Set Agenda For Gov AbdulRazaq’s Second Term in Office

As Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq would be sworn on Monday, May 29, 2023, for the second term in office, Kwarans expressed their views and set agenda for the governor. Taiye Joseph reports on expections from the citizens

May 29, 2023 Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq would be sworn in for second term to govern the people of the state with agenda set for his administration in various sectors to justify the confidence reposed in him after his victory in the 2023 governorship and state house of assembly elections.

Religious leaders, public affairs analyst, concerned citizens amongst others expressed their views and opinions.

The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kwara, Rt. Rev. Sunday Timothy Adewole, while delivering the Bishop’s Charge at the opening session of the 17th Synod of the Diocese. said “serve the people over whom God has made you leader, so that when you are no more in office your name will be etched with gold in the hearts of the people”.

“As you gradually settle down for the present term to wind down, cast your focus on fundamental issues of governance to usher you into the second term. God will grant you success and keep you secure in Jesus name,” he admonished.

“Your Excellency, we do not have any reason to doubt your competence, integrity and honesty as our Governor. You have displayed this to us for the past four years, and I strongly believe that they are part of the reasons that made you the people’s choice in the election. You demonstrated equity and fairness that is gradually making the Christian community to repose confidence in your leadership.”

“However, there is still more to be done. Another four years in office as governor of this state should be to consolidate what you have started some four years ago. Please respond promptly to state issues that require urgent attention. We are strongly appealing to you as Christians in Kwara state to follow the path of equity and fairness, do not give us the impression that we are second class citizens.” He added

Concern citizen Mr Yemi Adurotoye said “For Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq: He is expected to consolidate of his first term achievements. He has to do more in respect of infrastructure, education and health.

The take-off of the two satellite campuses of KWASU must be ensured. There is need for deliberate policy to promote employment, entrepreneurship. On this note, I celebrate the Kwarapreneur initiative, the gain is tomorrow. He has to be given kudos for not politicizing employment of teachers. The gain is tomorrow.

I want to advise that he should, this time, appoint more experienced people, technocrats into the key sectors of the state economy for optimum results of effective governance.”

Mr Adeolu Babatunde said ” The 2nd coming of Gov AbdulRahaman AbdulRasaq should be FOCUS driven. The hallmark of his dodgeness and resilient to Kwara political powers, should set records for ( payment of pensioners, rejik the Primary Health Center in LGAs devoid of fake paper proposal solutions, but real rear monitoring and Facilitates provisions, and clean environment.) He cannot do everything, but should concentrate on cardinal ones to enliven lives of the people. My utmost opinion ”

Mr Debo Ajayi said “Whatever the Governor did and earned the loyalty of the citizens vote , the Governor should continue along that path. I wish him luck”

Revd Felix Ajide said, “I felicitate the governor on his successful first term tenure and his appointment as the Chairman of Nigerian Governors’ Forum. The governor needs to consolidate on his first term achievements and ensure even development of the three senatorial districts. I want to advise the governor to pay more attention on infrastructure, education, health, road, and rural development. He should continue to unite Kwarans.”

Abdul Salaudeen said “Well, Divine wish secured his second term, but he must continue and intensify the already recorded in the last four years of the first tenure. Ilorin road network is an eyesore to visitors to the state capital, because it serves as window to Kwara state”
