Don Advises Retirees To Be Engaged Before Retirement
The Head of Department Security and Strategic Studies, Thomas Adewumi University, Oko Dr Joseph Olorunmola, has urged prospective retirees to be engaged in activities or businesses to be continued after retirement to tackle boring life.
Dr Olorunmola gave this advice at the retirement celebration of the Asst. Controller General and Zonal D Coordinator of Kwara Correctional Service, Mr Timothy Olumide held at Command headquarters ilorin on Saturday.
He said that the retiree life can be very boring and challenging, therefore is very important to find something doing.
The HOD, who is a guest lecturer at the occasion, described the retirement as new phase of life which the civil-servant embarked on after spending 35 years in service or attained 60 years of age.
He explained that retirement is very interesting, rewarding, peaceful depending on how retiree handle it.
He urged the retiree to engage in voluntary community service, follow childhood passion and get involved in unharmful politicking.
He advised all the retired officers present at the event to be properly grounded in their places of worship, club and other social groups which are important to properly establish relationship with.
The Controller of Correctional Service in Kwara, AbdulRaheem Salami, described the retired Zone D coordinator has a kindhearted man who take everybody’s problem as his own and ready to stand by the person and solve the problem.
He said that Mr Olumide priotise the welfare of staff during his tenure as the coordinator of zone D.
He appreciated the officers of the kwara command for their cooperation in making the celebration a reality.
In his part, Deputy Controller of Correction, Mr Folobinsho Owolabi, described the retired boss as the man of the people, who treat everybody equally and doesn’t behave as if he is superior to them.
He added that Mr Olumide was a hardworking boss, who opened his door to everybody and ready to solve their problem at anytime.
