Kwara: APC Suspends Sen. Makanjuola Ajadi and Six Others In Share Ward 1, 2

Former Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District in national assembly, Senator Makanjuola Suleiman Ajadi as well as Special Assistant on youths to the Kwara State Governor Engr. Rasaq Apaguntan has been suspended from all Progressives Congress (APC) Share ward 1, 2 and 5 in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

They were suspended over an alleged anti-party activities and irreconcilable actions during the last governorship and house of assembly elections held on March 18, 2023 in the state.

Addressing newsmen in Ilorin the Kwara State capital, Assistant Secretary Share ward 5 of Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State Issa Yunusa expressed disappointment over Ajadi’s alleged anti-party activities and alleged open assault on APC before and during the elections

He said “This is to inform the general public that following an enlarged meeting of the APC Members in Share ward five, in Adio, in Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State, involving ward executive members, stakeholders, party elders and some individuals, former Senator Makanjuola Suleiman Ajadi has been suspended indefinitely from all All Progressives Congress, over his anti-party activities and irreconcilable actions during the last governorship and house of assembly elections held on March 18,2023 in the state”

“We expressed utter disappointment over Ajadi’s anti-party activities and open assault on APC before and during the elections

“To our utmost amazement and disbelief M.S Ajadi publicly directed his supporters in constituency “A” to work against the APC house of Assembly candidate, in person of Honourable Rasaki Olatunde Owolabi

“He asked them to vote for PDP candidate in the state.

“To achieve his diabolical desire, a few days to the elections, he mobilised the opposition parties-PDP, SDP, ADC, Accord party and NNPP during a meeting in Babaloma and instructed them to vote for governor Abdulrahman Abdurazak in the governorship election but to vote for the PDP candidate in the House of Assembly election.

Truly, there was significant difference if you compared the results of the governship and house of Assembly elections.

“This desperate, self-seeking, serial election candidate and political merchant, who had deserted APC after he lost the senatorial ticket at the primaries sometimes in May last year, was given a soft landing by governor AbdulRahman AbduRazaq to return to APC two days to the governship and house of Assembly elections

Based on the overwhelming evidence of Ajadi’s compromise of the party’s constitution, we therefore, suspend him indefinitely from the party forthwith.

The general public should note this development, especially the party hierarchy at the state and national level. The suspension remains until otherwise stated” he said

Yusuf Abdullateef Kolawole assistant secretary APC Share ward 2 who also spoke with newsmen said:
“After an exhaustive deliberations and review of the results of the Presidential and National Assembly Elections held on February 25, 2023 and the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections of March 18, 2023, by the Ward Executive Members, Party Elders and critical Stakeholders, the meeting passed a Vote of No Confidence on the following individuals for their anti-party activities and gross INDISCIPLINE, which had resulted in the loss of APC Candidate in Share Wards One (I) and Two (II) in the Governorship and House of Assembly Election.

They are:
1. Chief M. T Lawal
2. Mr. Samuel Fasobu Jimoh and
3. Engr. Rasaq Apaguntan (RAAF) S.A Youths to the Governor
4. Alhaja Barakat Atunshe – Board Member CAILS
5. Rasheed Shuaib – Assist Fin. sec.

“Our great Party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), thrives on absolute loyalty, faithfulness and discipline.

“Therefore, the party has found these individuals as unworthy APC members and agents, hence their indefinite suspension from the party today Friday March 31, 2023.

“It might interest you to know that these disgruntled elements had colluded with ADC, SDP, PDP and some individuals to trade APC Candidate’s victory to the main opposition party in the Governorship and House of Assembly Election in the Two Wards in Share, the headquarters of Ifelodun LGA, among other evils they perpetrated.

This far reaching decision is anchored on Article 21(B) I-V of the party Constitution that emphasises strict discipline without compromise.

We have therefore, come to the inevitability of this stringent measure, at this critical time of the history of the party, in order to assert her supreme power and control and thereby deterring others from toeing the ignoble path.

“We hereby appeal to all our members to remain committed and focused.

“Lastly, the general public is hereby informed that henceforth, these persons so mentioned above, have seized to be APC members in Share wards I & II till further notice. Attached are the signatures of Ward Executives and Stakeholders,” he said

Meanwhile, Leadership of the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed concerns over reports of suspension of some party members at their ward levels.

This is contained in a statement issued by APC Chairman, Kwara State Prince Sunday Fagbemi and made available to newsmen in Ilorin the Kwara State capital

“While the party agrees that no organization survives without discipline and respect for leadership, the party feels it is also important to build group cohesion through conciliation and consensus building.

To this extent, the party urges all its organs across the state to shelve punitive measures against any member and instead embrace peace and reconciliation, which will help to foster a stronger party and spirit of collective responsibility among members.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is the time to rally every member of the party behind Governor AbdulRahmanjustifRazaq’s agenda for positive growth and collective prosperity for the people of the state.

“The responsibility before the party and its government is to justify the confidence the people have reposed in us by re-electing the Governor and voting for all our candidates in the recent election, including the President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We do not need any distraction that will affect the party or our government. It is against this background that we implore our party stakeholders at every level to embrace peace, dialogue, and reconciliation.

“For these reasons, the state executive committee of the party will not be accepting the recent suspension of some party members for the sake of peace and party cohesion.

“This neither takes away a need to ensure party discipline as enshrined in the constitution nor does it imply that the concerned party executives necessarily acted in bad faith.

“It is about bringing everyone together for the purpose of peace and development, which Kwarans have recently voted for,” Fagbemi said.
