2023: Barr. Ijaodola Berates Politicians Calling For Cancellation of Election

An Ilorin based legal practitioner, Barr. Seun Ijaodola, has berated politicians calling for the cancellation or rerun of the last presidential election on the basis that Tinubu did not win FCT.

Ijaodola, said this while speaking with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in ilorin.

He condemned the assertion that it’s mandatory for the presidential candidate, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to win the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) before he is declared winner of election.

He said the constitutional perspective to the argument explains that FCT can be regarded as one of the states in the country, and not a separate entity a presidential candidate must win or procure 25% from.

He quoted section 134 of the constitution that each and everyone should not be disparaged on the basis of ethnic, religion adding that FCT is equal to all other state of the federation.

He added that people should stop all forms of move that can segregate the country, saying it will be unreasonable for people to move to FCT on the claims that a single vote carries more weight than any part of the country.

He maintained that there is spirit of equality in law and a resident of the FCT is equal to that of Kwara State and any other part of the country. (NAN)
