KWARA SPEAKER HARPS ON PEACEFUL CO-EXISTENCE AS YORUBA COMMUNITY IN BARUTEN GETS NEW OBA

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has stressed the need for Kwarans to continue to leave together peacefully and harmoniously irrespective of ethnic and religious differences.

Rt. Hon. Engr. Danladi-Salihu gave the advice while speaking at the coronation of the Oba Yoruba of Sinawu, Alhaji Yakubu Umar ‘Yayi Chau’ in Sinawu, Baruten Local Government Area of the State.

He also congratulated and charged the new Oba to see himself as “Oba for everyone in his domain and not just for the Yoruba people alone and work with other traditional rulers to ensure that the peace in Sinawu, Baruten, and Kwara at large reign supreme”.

“Let me congratulate Alhaji Yakubu Umar ‘Yayi Chau’ on today’s historic occasion of his coronation as the new Oba Yoruba of Sinawu, I hope that the new Oba would work to sustain the harmonious relationship and peaceful coexistence between the Yoruba and Batonu people.

“As a government, we understand and appreciate the important roles our traditional leaders play especially in the area of complementing the effort of security agencies to maintain law and order, therefore, we would continue to give necessary support to the traditional institution across the state to ensure that our people continue to leave in unity”

The Speaker also underscored the need to return Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq elected for a second term in the next year’s general election, saying that his administration has effected positive changes across sectors of government and wards and communities respectively.

“As we inch closer to the 2023 polls, I wish to enjoin our supporters to keep the campaign civil and issue-based irrespective of the antics and provocation from the opposition.

“With what Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and his government have done for the people of Kwara State, I’m confident that by the Grace of God, victory is assured for all the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates from the Presidency down to the House of Assembly”.

The coronation which was conducted by the Mora Lafia Of Sinawu, Alhaji Zakari Idris was attended by the Emir and representatives of Okuta, Yashikira, Ilesha, and Gwanara Emirates as well as Kwara State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Honourable Aliyu Kora Sabi, Baruten TIC Chairman, Hon Rasheed Lafia among other top government functionaries.
