June 12: Kwara Speaker Says Democracy Is Work-In-progress

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu says Nigeria’s democracy has witnessed an appreciable level of development in the last twenty-three years, calling on government at all levels to sustain the tempo towards improving it.

Engr. Danladi-Salihu who stated this in a statement marking this year’s democracy day noted that Nigeria’s democracy is a work-in-progress.

He explained that available records across the country especially in Kwara State where women and youth have been given constitutional backing to participate and get involved in politics and governance under the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is one of the pointers to the fact that our democracy is growing steadily.

Engr. Danladi-Salihu congratulated Nigerians on today’s historic occasion and charged them to continue to support government and leaders in the quest towards building a virile nation so that the sacrifice and patriotism of our heroes’ past would not go in vain.

The Speaker also gave an assurance that the Kwara State House of Assembly, the Ninth Legislature under his leadership would continue to serve and protect the interest of Kwara citizens.
