Beach Soccer team will not be disbanded – Magaji

The Executive Chairman of the Kwara state Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji has said that the purported Kwara state Beach Soccer team will not be disbanded.

Magaji gave this assurance on Friday when the Chairman Nmako Beach soccer team Patigi, Engineer  Idris Jubril in company of the purported Kwara Beach Soccer team visit him at the Commission on arrival from Kebi.

He said the team will not be disbanded but shall be given a name and a chairman appointed for them, with a secretary and other association members.

The Executive Chairman who insisted that the Commission does not have a Beach soccer team said  the Kwara state government and the Sports Commission were embarrassed by the statement that Kwara state Beach soccer team were stranded in Kebi.

Explaining further, he said before  a team can represent Kwara state, the state must be fully involved and have impute as to how the association was  formed before it  could be referred to as Kwara Beach soccer team.

“Kwara is an entity with so many local governments, we have Kwara United, it belong to all the local governments, they have an office here, we have Kwara Falcons Basketball club, they have office here as well as Kwara Ladies Football Club, where is their own office”

Magaji who said he is also an athlete and  not angry with the players pointed  out that right thing must be said as he assured the team will not be disbanded 

Also in his remark,  the Commission Secretary, Mallam  Tsato Haruna  said the issue  at hand was a blessing in disguise for the beach team as it will necessitate the reform of the team to make it a legitimate Kwara beach team.

In her comment, a member of the Commission Mrs Abolore Abdukadri advised  the players to always make the right consultations and be mindful of whatever they will put across on the social media in this political era.

Earlier, Engineer Jubril told the Executive Chairman of the Commission that he made it mandatory to call on the Commission on his arrival from Kebi to appreciate the Commission for the assistance provided his team on request before going for the competition.

He particularly thanked the Executive Chairman of the Commission for his prompt response despite the short notice with  the provision a bus that made their partaking in the competition possible.

Speaking further, Jubril apologised to the Commission and the state government for the unfortunate statement made by the Purported Kwara Beach soccer team that they were stranded in Kebi.

He said as a father to all Sports in the state, the Commission should forgive  the players and make the necessary arrangements to keep the team intact because of the efforts the players hard put in which earned them National recognition.

The players also apologised to the state government and the Commission for their wrong doing and pledged their loyalty and support to the Commission.
