Gov AbdulRazaq Sends Two Bills To Assembly For Passage
Kwara State House of Assembly on Tuesday received two executive bills for consideration and quick passage from Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq
The bills are Kwara State Legislative Fund Management Bill Twenty Twenty-Two and Kwara State Judiciary Fund Management Bill Twenty Twenty-Two
These were enshrined in two separate messages from Governor addressed to the Speaker Engineer Yakubu Salihu and read before his colleagues during Tuesday’s plenary
The Bills seek to confer autonomy on the State Legislature and Judiciary for the management and Control recurrent and capital expenditures in line with the provision One Two One subsection Three of the Constitution as amended
Governor Abdulrazaq urged the House to give the bills the usual consideration and quick passage
Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Salihu, therefore, referred two the bills to Business and Rules Committee of the House to be slated for first reading at appropriate time
Meanwhile, Kware State Landed Property Protection Bill Twenty Twenty-Two passed through second reading following debate on the bill by the Lawmakers.
The Bill was read for the second time by the Clerk of the House, Hajia Haleemah Kperogi
Speaker Engineer Yakubu Salihu, therefore, referred the Bill to House Committee on Lands, Housing and Urban Development to conduct Public Heading on the Bill
Lawmaker representing Ojomu-Balogun Constituency, Offa Local Government at the Kwara State House of Assembly, Prince Saheed Adekeye Popoola has formally defected from All Progressives Congress APC to Social Democratic Party, (SDP)
This was sequel his defection letter captioned “Notice of Defection from All Progressives Congress, APC to Social Democratic Party, SDP addressed to Speaker Engineer Yakubu Salihu and read on the floor of the House at today’s sitting
Prince Popoola said his decision to dump APC is inline with the provision of section One Zero One subsection One D of the constitution as amended
The Lawmaker pledged his continued loyalty to the leadership of the House as his defection to another political party would not affect his commitment to the success the ninth Assembly
Prince Popoola maintained that he had consulted his constituents before announcing his defection and promised to continue to represent his people to the best of my ability in Ojomu-Balogun Constituency who voted me en-mass to represent them the State House of Assembly
Also, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Kwara State has been duly notified of the change by the Lawmaker
Kwara State Government has been advised to put in place military check points in Ekiti Local Government to halt kidnapping and other crimes in the area
This was sequel to Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by Lawmaker representing Ekiti Local Government, Ganiyu Gabriel titled Spate of Kidnapping in Ekiti Local Government ” of the floor of the House
Me Gabriel expressed displeasure over activities of abductors in his Constituency and advocated drastic steps to be taken arrest the situation for safety of lives and property
Some Lawmakers in their contributions charged concerned authority to be proactive towards apprehending criminals tormenting Communities in Ekiti Local Government
Reading the resolutions of the House, Speaker Engineer Yakubu Salihu charged traditional rulers and religious leaders to join hands with law enforcement agents including Vigilante groups in tracking evil doers in Ekiti Local Government and the state in general.
