Articulated vehicle kills one person in Ilorin

Tragedy struck in the early hours of on Thursday in Ilorin the Kwara state capital as one person was killed by articulated vehicle along post office road Ilorin.

It was gathered that the truck driver on speed to escape from the scene of the accident, which occured at about 10:15 hours on Thursday at post office ran out of luck before Offa Garage as he was attacked by angry mob who almost set the vehicle ablaze and beat him messlesly.

It took the intervention of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), which prevented the vehicle from being set ablaze after he tried to escape but was apprehended

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spoke person, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, Babawale Afolabi said the victim was trying to extort money from the trailer driver

” The incident occured at around 1015 hours on Thursday when the victim was reported to also be a driver and was trying to collect money from the truck’s driver when his foot slipped off.

“Subsequently, he fell down on the truck tyres and was crunched to death by the rear tyre of the truck” Babawale said.

Officers of the NSCDC crisis management Department and Kwara State Transport Management Authority KWATMA) later evacuated the remains of the victim from the scene.
