Don tasks corps members on peace, sustainable peace building
Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)have been urged to embrace peace and ensure sustainable peace buildinga across the country.
The Director Center for Peace and Strategic atudies , University of Ilorin, Professor Oyeronke Olademo made the call while Speaking at a 2-day training organised for Corps members by Suleiman Bogoro mediation Room, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp ,Yipata ,Kwara state.
According to her, corps members are targeted for the training based on their exposure from their various institutions of higher learning.
She explained that two corps members are selected each from the 16 local government area to undergo training as agent of change on terms of peace building in the society.
Prof. Olademo noted that the selected corps members are expected to train others, who will compliment their effort in preaching peaceful coexistence in their various communities ,States and the country in general.
She advised the Corps to ensure they use what was learnt in resolving conflicts among themselves and in the larger communities without allowing it resort into conflict.
Olademo appealed to members of the communities to embrace the Corps members as their children and give them the necessary support to enable them succeed.
In her remark, the Coordinator Center for peace and strategic studies University of Ilorin, Dr Biola Adimula urged the Corps members to remain dutiful and ensure peaceful coexistence in their various communities.
