Ex-PDP Chairman, Baraje Urges Youths To Shun Violence

Former Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has urged Nigerian youths to eschew violence and embrace peace.
Baraje observed in Ilorin on Tuesday that various forms of violence in some parts of the country were being perpetrated by the youths,
He lamented that the future of the country is bleak if the youths regarded as leaders of tomorrow continue in that direction.
Speaking with newsmen after attending the ward meeting of his party in Baboko, Ilorin, Kwara State, Baraje appealed to the violent youths to retrace their steps for the sake of the nation’s growth and development.
He reminded them that the much sought after job opportunities will continue to be elusive as no investor will be willing to invest in an unsafe environment.
He said:” It is only in a condusive atmosphere and a peaceful environment that development can take place.
“I, therefore, enjoin our youths in all parts of the country to embrace dialogue in resolving issues rather than resorting to violence which will not do anyone any good.”
He commended the PDP members in Baboko ward for remaining steadfast in their support for the immediate past Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
Baraje, who is the chairman of the PDP Reconciliation Committee and Engagement Committee in the state, urged party leaders at ward levels and across the state to welcome and embrace new members, including former members of the party who may be willing to return to the party’s folds.
He described his reconciliatory visits to all the 16 local government areas of the state as successful and rewarding.
